Aim:

To update the knowledge of thyroid disease in pregnancy

Background:

Poorly controlled thyroid disease during pregnancy is associated with increased risks of miscarriage, placental abruption, hypertensive disorders, and fetal growth restriction.

Objectives:

To understand thyroid hormonal adaptation during pregnancy; review approach to women with pre-existing thyroid disease desiring for pregnancy; study update practical management of patient with thyroid disease during pregnancy; appraise on post-partum thyroid dysfunction.
