AIM:

This 18-hour course gives an overview on the latest development of obstetrics, midwifery and neonatal care. It includes reinforcing the application of midwifery care and bioscience knowledge to practice. The course will cover a wide range of topics across the pregnancy course and neonatal period. 

OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the course, midwives should be able to:

• Understand current antenatal screening and prenatal diagnosis
• Update contemporary childbirth management, including management of high risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies
• Learn more about hospital and community postnatal support to mothers and infants
• Gain knowledge on newborn screening and care of high-risk infants
• Integrate evidence-based practice and medico-legal principles into midwifery care
